How I work
How I work

My commitment
I clearly state what I will do, and I follow through with precision and creativity - nothing more, nothing less - and on time. 😊
Discovery
First, we need to establish the following:
- What is your purpose for this project?
- Who is the audience?
- What should the tone of voice be?
- What is your budget?
- Have you got deadlines?
My briefing document will ask about your marketing strategy and your brand needs to avoid revisions.
Make a list of your current assets, such as your website, social profiles, social graphics, presentation files, etc. so I can properly scope the project.

Ideas, mood board & creating the artwork
A mood board is a visual tool that helps define direction, style and vision: sketches, images, colours, types and ideas you brought to me. I LOVE this phase!
I want to give you options, so I create directions, and we follow on of them until you are happy with the outcome.
I will show artwork in situ, on a website or in a poster.
I work in layers so it's easy for me to make changes. You can use assets from an illustration separately too. Remember: design is an integrated process and it matters what surroundings you set your illustrations in as this may change the overall message.
The images are vector. You can blow them up to the size of an elephant!
Our work relationship
I thrive on adding value to your business and I know that illustrations can be a luxury item. But they can tell your brand story in a personal way, bring content to life and add a pinch of humour to your presentation.
I have an office in Brighton. On specific dates, I can meet in Zurich or anywhere in Europe if the project warrants a meeting. I speak 4 languages (E,G,F,I), so we should get along.

The budget, the costs
Years of experience in a media agency have given me a deep understanding of project costs, thanks to precise time tracking.
I typically offer a fixed price but can also work on a Time & Materials basis at an hourly rate. You'll receive a detailed quote, with a 10% project management fee (waived for charities).
Payment Structure:
-
50% commissioning invoice upfront. New clients: A £100 call-out charge applies, similar to a plumber’s deposit at the start of a project.
-
Final invoice after approval and artwork delivery
-
VAT registered
Rates:
-
Day rate: £260
How long will it take
My schedule is busy, but I’m flexible and can adjust as needed.
-
A detailed, complex illustration takes 4–5 hours.
-
A simple illustration or icon takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Some clients have retainer agreements, securing a set number of hours per month for guaranteed access to my schedule.
My Commitment:
✔ Clear deliverables - so you know exactly what to expect
✔ Precise timelines - for every project milestone
✔ Proactive communication - if I anticipate any delays, you’ll be the first to know.

Project management and timeline, comms
I have a schedule to ensure we meet the deliverables, the budget and the timelines.
Please supply all resources such as logos, colour palettes and images.
We can communicate via email or use a project management tool like freedcamp or Slack.
Change of direction
If you have a change of heart, we create a change control. I will have allocated a certain amount of hours to the project; by the time we arrive at 3/4 of the hours, I will ask you how you would like to use the remainder of the hours.
Testing
We must ensure you have time to live with your new illustrations.

Sign-off
The sign-off brings a project to an end and identifies the next steps.
Delivery
I'll put together a folder with all your final artwork and assets, including RGB files for web and CMYK for print, tailored to your printer or designer’s needs.
You'll always have easy access to these files at no extra cost - I'll share them via WeTransfer or Google Drive, whichever works best for you! 😊
Useful to know?
I can advise on audience, engagement, marketing, online presence, branding and storytelling.
Licences: I have the right to ask for a license if you want to use your illustrations on merchandise and in publishing. Most of the time I can keep things simple.
I work closely with my collab hub, designers, animators, print designers and copywriters.Â
