Case study: Web illustrations for eventengine.tv
Illustrations that make technology human
Personable illustrations for event-tech business
Background
Tim began working in the conference and events space as part of a marketing agency servicing departments. Lee has been running web development businesses since the mid-90s. Together, they develop powerful web applications for event organisers that are designed for ease of use. These tools help organise, market and deliver events – whether online, in-person or both.
The design approach
Over the years, they had followed my illustration work, including pieces created for websites and social media. They approached me to develop a series of personable, hand-drawn illustrations that would bring a sense of warmth and humanity to a technology-focused brand.
Solutions
I developed a range of illustrations, including custom avatars for team members, some of which were not chosen for the project. The overarching aim was to visually communicate their mission: to create spaces where people connect in order to drive positive change around the world. A personal, hand-drawn illustration style felt particularly well-suited to reinforcing that sense of authenticity and human connection.

Where technology meets the human touch
Not only do they keep with the times, but they also have a great mission: “We want to create spaces where people connect to affect positive changes anywhere in the world.”.
I believe it’s essential to choose our clients carefully. In a world driven by technology and AI, it’s easy to lose sight of ourselves. The connections we forge while collaborating on a project are what truly matter - and are invaluable.
